Another night..another dollar...

or a few pounds as the case maybe in this particular scenario.. n for those of you'll who's mind is in the gutter..the answer is an emphatic NO!!!!! I don't do THAT!!I just work the night shift at a Telecommunications Company..anyways it's just past midnight on Saturday and here I am at work..well not this exact minute u understand but I have almost 6hrs to go thanx to trying to be a good samaritan.. I can think of hundreds of ways to spend a weekend and this doesn't even make that list.. but alas as they say, beggars can't b choosers....normally I would be getting ready to go back at this time of the night but one of the guys who was supposed to do tha late late shift had to leave unexpectedly and me being the helpful person that I am volunteered to cover for him.. BIG MISTAKE.. I didn't realise that it was one thing to work till 2 in the morning but a whole different prospect to work until 6..for those who are wonderng whether there is anything to do in a call centre at that tim of the night you would be surprised..all the drunks and insomniacs in the UK seems to be on the phone wasting their money and our time.. but talk to them we must..that's what we get paid for after all..

after finishing the postgrad things have not gone that smoothly itseems.. still waiting for my results and looking for a proper job with absolutely no success thus far.. altho given the fact that I can't seem to make up my mind as to what exactly I wanna do yet that is not too surprising I guess.. I have been surfing around looking at jobs, talking to recruitment agencies etc etc but things just doesn't seem to go beyond that stage..as a result I am becoming more n more inclined towards hitting the jackpot with the national lottery and retreating to my own island in the caribbean..(Mental Note: Start buying lottery tickets)

I think I need more caffeine in my system to keep me awake and civil to the idiots who keep on phoning in..altho I have to admit not all are nutcases..tis just that they all seem to blend in together at this time of the morning.........

Rise of the Phoenix....

well not quite but u'll get what I'm on abt f u read enough of this.. been having trouble with my blog for a long time now n not being the most technically savvy person around I was almost ready to give up this blog and move on.. but that was easier said than done so here I was trying to fix whatever the hell was wrong and not getting no where in particular when the brain storm struck.... I should just start anew :) altho for the purists among you that myt seem to be taking the easy way out, I'm glad to say that I don't c it like that n I don't particularly care either especially since I still get to keep on adding my two pennies worth..

oh yah..the pic in the profile was done from the link provided in this post...I got it from Spectral so I figured the credit should go to him.. thnx!!

Bittersweet

the weekend gone past has provided me an insight to the true meaning of that word..even though it's over I'm not complaining cos I wasn't too particular on this bittersweet business..prefer it one way or the other any day.. to add to that I was actually at work the whole weekend too..yah yah I'm one of those unfortuante souls who has to work during weekends :(

anyways the great sporting weekend didnt start too proimisingly..messed up my knee playing cricket and am immobile these days..apart from the fact that I have to limp off to work due to the lack of holidays that is(mental note: keep sick holidays for days that u actually are sick rather than wasting on days when u r just lazy to go to work) as the football commentators refuse to let us forget Michael Owen who suffered torn ligaments was carried off immediately and flown to consult the world's top doctors while I on the other hand had to drag myself for a good half hour to find a freakin ice pack.. what a difference the ability to kick a ball around makes eh?

come Saturday things were looking decidedly better...altho my knee was still giving me a lot of grief one Amelie Mauresmo managed to give me hope to salvage this weekend.. she won the finals of Wimbledon!! not that in itself was of any significance to me but the last time a French woman came to the wimbledon finals 8 years ago she lost but the football team went on to lift the world cup..so tis only right that the fact that Mauresmo won the Wimbledon, should resign the French footballers to the runners up position this time around..Portugal gave their now customary theatrical performance on the football field but was beaten resoundingly by the Germans and things were shaping up very well...

the much awaited Sunday of Finals revealed no surprises early on with Federer overcoming a spirited challenge by Nadal.. the game was pretty good considering the fact that Federer seems to be just floating thru games without breaking a sweat these days.. on grass atleast... the footy started in such a rush f u left ur seat at the beginning u wud have missed both the goals..as i was at work with a TV iunstalled specially for the summer ryt next to me I had no such probs :) even though France looked to be the more dominant side Italy managed to keep them on level grounds..with the likes of Viera, Ribery and Henry being substituted for one reason or the other, the match f to b decided on penalties, was slowly shifting toward the Italians.. altho ZZ would have been remembered for many of his past exploits on the field with the football he chose to bow out of the game with a headbutt into the chest of Materazzi..altho I must admit, f one absolutely must make an exit on a red card ZZ's choice is definitely the way to earn one..sure he myt have been taunted but for a player of his experience and calibre with the world cup within his grasp that was a disapointing gesture to say the least.. the penalties came and went with the Italians efficiently carrying out their jobs while Trezeguet experienced a yet another emotionally charged match..he scored the golden goal to defeat Italy in Euro 2000 but this time he missed the penalty which lost France the world cup..sport really does seem to be the great leveller!!!!!!!!!

Hammer the poms....

yet another long break...well this time atleast I have a good excuse..my site seems to be giving problems..need to get it sorted out properly or this is one blog which will look like a hurricane swept over it..in the process of getting it sorted actually...

sportswise a satisfying week thus far.. on Saturday SL absolutley hammered the English cricket team to the ground with the master, Jayasuriya himself leading the charge..altho the whole top order did a terrific job all through out the series..for a change.. and then after I get home, I'm in for a rather pleasent surprise, to put it mildly, the English football team is tied at extra time with the Portugese..once the whistle for the playing time is blown there can b only one winner despite the English commentators going on abt how the law of averages favors the English..well right on cue the so called English superstars make a mess of it n the guys behind the mikes are left with egg on their face n unable to even face the camera...on the subject of which, whatever happened to neutral commentries?especially the cricket seems to b one biased comment after another which is pretty annoying... Murray salvaged a bit of pride at Wimbledon (him being a Scot I'm not really complaining) but then the british charge was held up on Tuesday with him being knocked out on the verge of the final rounds...aaahhhhhhhhhhh...life is good....

had a blast during the weekend but had to be back for the daily grind once the week started..i have discovered that it's one thing to wish to b indoors during sub zero tempratures but when the sun is out n the day is absolutely glorious one is prone to go mad staying indoors..which aint much of a choice considering that I have to sit in front of a PC for 8 hours a day.. I shall not get back into griping abt my current work since the money is good enough to keep in food n clothes...but f anyone out there knows the winning lottery numbers I would gladly take the responsibilty out of ur hands n single handedly take the risk of winning the cursed money....n I would even share some of the loot with ya to show my gratitude...

here's hoping for another good weekend with Italy grabbing the cup n Germany atleast getting into 3rd place (Portuagal lost my vote after 2 straight games of trying to con the ref)
