On thin ice..

Wasn't exactly on top of my "To DO" list but I have a thing for trying out stuff.. thus on an especially dull wednesday evening I found myself at an Ice Rink..After telling myself that it can't b that bad f so many ppl were doing it with seemingly no effort I was relatively happy walking along from the changing rooms to the ice rink on ultra thin looking (or mayb it was just my eyes) skates without much of a problem..Stepping onto the ice stripped away any confidence I had with my legs giving away ona regular basis so much so I was hanging on to the support rail for the first half hour just to keep upright..managed to skate around for a coupla rounds but in all honesty calling it skating is a slight exaggeration...The fact that 10yr olds were whizzing around performing tricks didn't do much to lift my already battered morale but it did make me push myslf to try another coupla rounds and I did do it with out the help of the support rail even.. he.. heh.. I was proud of my achievement altho like all good things it had to come to end and this was in spectacular fashion with me on my backside..even worse than falling is the getting up part and much to the amusement of many of the onlookers I practically had to go on all fours till I could support myself and drag myslef up...oh well... I hear these kinda set backs are normal on first days so asied from a bruised bottom & ego I think it went quite well, although the next skating session might b another 25yrs away specially since my partner aint letting me live it down gracefully... but to give due credit she did manage a better outing although she opted for the safe routes.. oh n to anyone who's thinking of trying this..tis definitely worth it..but remember to take a change of clothing just in case........
