Good Night & Good Luck

heyyy everybody.. yet another long break.. just don't seem to have enough hours in the day... between going to office, trying to make some sort of sense of the mess that is work these days and then coming back home exhausted there's no time to even think about blogging even if I felt like switching on my comp... all I can think about seems to be hitting the bed... and bfr u know it, tis time to go through the same grind once again.. even the weekends seem to come and go without making it's presence felt.. I know one day I'm gonna wake up and wonder what the hell happened to all those years...aaarrgggghhhhhh....

anyways to get to the point.. I think it's time to draw the curtains on my blog... I don't seem to have the time to be be able to update this with any sort of regularity which kinda sucks...twas fun just being able to ramble but hey as they say all good things come to an end... hopefully I'll still be able to check in on my favorite haunts so keep it going ppl...

who needs wires to get tripped up?!?!?!

bought laptop... bought wireless router.. set up wi fi network.. surfing is no longer limited to my room..theoretically atleast..but practically tis so freaking slow I might as well make the trip in car and bring back the web page myself... no need to bring it back actually if I'm already there but that's not the point... the point is my wi fi connection is soooooooooooooo damn slow..and just to make things worse some pages doesn't even load.. and I'm not talking about some obscure crap but sites such as yahoomail for one...faulty router perhaps??nope...my flatmate bought a laptop and that's working fine on my network so that is obviously not the culprit..further investigation shows that the wireless cards are different on the 2 machines..so it has to be something wrong with my card, right? wrong!!! just for the sake of experimenting I logged into my neighbour's network (she has an unsecured connection..bless her) and it works fine.. wireless is always slower than the wired connection I guess but it is way better than what I get from my own network and is consistent over all the sites despite the limited signals I get... so then it is something to do with my card (intel pro wireless 3945ABG) and that specific router (SafeCom SWBR 5400)? scoured the web trying to find something to substantiate that but no luck.. or maybe tis just something to do with the fact that my network is secure and something is screwed up with my authentication? altho again the fact that my flatmate is not having any probs kinda rules that out too I suppose... like Drac always says..OMGWTF!!!!! I have been at it trying to figure out what the hell is wrong but I have absolutely had it now.. was just about to throw in the towel and revert back to my wired connection (which works fine btw) when Spectral gave me an idea..rather I took one off him... ask u guys.. any ideas at all y this is happening? apart from the fact that who ever is up there has a twisted sense of humor and is reveling in my misery that is.... oh btw, no prizes for anyone figuring this out except he /she will have my undying gratitude.. what more can u ask for right?

the week that was...

well it was more than a week but it sure feel like it was only a couple of days..among watching SL getting thrashed by which is practically a second string Pakistani side and a SA side we should have motored over easily I also had to get back to going to work after a pretty decnet break..

first though the cricket...dissapointing to say the least..although they weren't the traditional subcontinental wickets where batsmen n the spinners rule this time around the obvious but curious lack of application by our guys meant that we are out yet again at teh group stages.. pretty pathetic display by a team who should have managed a way higher level of performance with the kind of momentum they were carrying into the tournament..for me the touch of complacency plus an unwillingness to address the real holes in his players by the captain also was pretty hard to take. or mayb I am just being grouchy cos after all the trouble gone through to get a Sky connection I had to endure a crappy display by our guys.. wouldn't hav been too bad had it not been for the fact that this team really seemed like shaping up pretty well during the past coupla months.. obviously teams are gonna lose matches but the way they played was..weelll...I don't have to repeat myself nuh?

Work was a whole new ball game(no pun intended)... the initial happiness (for the lack of a better word) that comes with knowing that u r actually going to work at a decent hour was heavily dampened after the first morning when I realised that not only is my body clock still working according to my previous commitments but I need to leave home about a hour and half ealier than expected to make it to work on time.. n when the wrk is not exactly thrilling (yes I'm still hoping that something of the sort will come around) it is so damn hard to get up in the morning to drag myself outta da house on time.. still in training which drastically limits my internet access during the day time which sucks big time..

atleast tis Friday tmrw..there's full two days of lazing around doing jack all to look forward to..aarrrgghhhh :) till next time ppl.. me off to find some food...

Sky's the limit....

aahhhh...woooo hoooo...yippeeeeeeeeee....hurray even :) finally managed to convince a coupla others to pitch in for a Sky / broadband pkg.. from my reaction you can probably guess the depravation I have been under lately.. that's a thing of the past though.. no more crappy TV.. no more rushing to uni to access the net.. and most importantly just in time to watch the Champions trophy.. suddenly being at home not doing anything much doesn't seem to be all that bad.. atleast until I get the bills atleast.. oh well.. worrying can wait..I'm off to watch the highlights of the SA/NZ match..pretty chuffed abt the result too.. serves them right for skipping out of SL I say... hope r guys thrash them outta the park too..laterz!!!!

The perfect job...

is a myth I have decided..or mayb even an illusion..doesn't really matter as long as it is understood that there is no such thing for me.. not yet atleast..yes I still hav hope..I'm sure none of you will grudge me that.. anyways back to the point.. yesterday was my last day.. not at the work place but at my job.. I have gotten a different type of job with the same company, even though I vowed never to return to technical duties I have decided to take up.. in a strange way I'm gonna miss this.. not the job exactly but rather the ppl.. it was a pretty good experience first up..oh well..life goes on I suppose.. the main reasoning behind going back to much despised technical duties is that some type of a proper job is better than nothing..I was meant to start on my new assignment from tmrw but as fate would have it was postponed to the 23rd.. so I have two weeks with nothing to do.. time for my usual trip down south..can't wait :)

back at work..waiting for my ride to show up..siigghhhhh...

oh yah got my results..pretty good ones at that.. pleasantly surprised to b honest.. altho I seem to have some sorta luck when it comes to exams.. just hoping it would spill over to finding a job one of these days as well..

Creepy train rides and planes that take ur head off..

that was what my weekend consisted of..got an extended weekend worked out after a bit of swaping here & there and headed down south as usual although this time my 4hr journey ended up being almost double that amount cos of some maintnence work on the tracks..I was routed through Carlisle which incidently I was informed was the highest mainland train track in the UK and provides some awesome views of the Yorkshire Dales, totally irrelevant to the point I was getting at but thought I'l give it a mention too..so anyways the trian was so deserted when I got on I was in a carraige by myself.. had some good chillout music in my iPod and was nicely settling into a good snooze when all these old ppl came in..from practically every station.. and when I say old.. I mean oollldddd.. headful of white hair, walking sticks the full works.. did I mention that they got on from practically every station?? and the trian stopped every 10 minutes at a station down the line.. I kid u not.. it was as if anyone who walks into a the train immediately ages to 124 or therabouts..the whole train was full of them.. it wouldn't hav been too bad f it was only that.. but u know how old people love to talk? ask u this, that and the other thing?? well nooo... these ppl were so damn quiet it was scary.. most of the time the mobile phones weren't even in service.. it could have been right out of a bad horror movie.. I wouldn't have been surprised f I had turned into a guy with white hair and stuttering along with the help of a walking stick after the end of that trip...but I managed to escape unscathed..altho I have noticed a lot more whitehairs on my head now..

eventually got to C&Js place after like 12hrs on the road..rails rather..and crashed for the night..well tried to atleast but with the freaking planes coming in like every minute or so I might as well been trying to hammer a nail in with cotton wool.. the next time someone argues abt how Heathrow aint the busiest airport in the world I'm gonna deck him..seriously.. tis so annoying.. everytime a plane passes over u get this vibrations and all electrical equipment goes wonky.. altho I was told that one gets used to it.. but still..thats' beside the point.. f u can jump far enuf u can practically touch those planes..aside from the annoyance factor tis pretty cool to c.. especially at night when u can c abt five planes lined up one behind the other waiting to come into land..wonder whether any of the pilots ever have the urge to overtake eh?wouldnt that b a sight?two boeing 707s going head to head racing for the landing strip..reminds me of pvt buses back home...

had a coupla things to do in London.. not the least of which was an Interior Designing exhibition which was pretty cool.. surprised myself with how much I liked it actually.. considering the fact I only went in the first plc to keep UV company.. had a nice relaxing session at David Lloyd's in the evening (bless C&J for their pvt membership) with a Jacuzzi, Sauna etc.. and to top it all off had Kottu after like almost one year.. hav to admit..it was pretty good..

so all in all had quite a good weekend for a change.. but as with all good things it must come to an end.. back to Dundee and my usual routine now...
